My girlfriend had Lasik in San Francisco done at LaserVue last year before she moved east, and she is so happy that she had it done! She said that their doctors had performed over 25,000 procedures and it was quick, almost painless, and affordable. She said that she had both of her eyes done the same day, and it took less than twenty minutes! She said the only anesthesia used was eye drops so she didn’t even have to worry about being groggy afterwards!
She told me that there is some kind of controversy going on in the sports world about athletes having Lasik done to improve their vision to give them a competitive edge on their sport. She said that some people think that is “cheating.” I think that if the person really had vision problems and needed to wear glasses anyway, having Lasik for vision correction is not cheating. However, if the person already had perfect vision and didn’t need glasses and had Lasik to give them “superior” vision (I heard that is possible) then I think that there would be grounds for calling that “cheating.”
