My kids and I have been talking about what we are going to do this summer, while they are on school vacation.  We’ve been talking about doing something fun and different this year, something we can really enjoy together.  We are interested in doing something that involves learning about the environment while incorporating physical activity.  We think we will go to a summer camp together!

We’ve decided that we want to learn take surf lessons!  We have a dear family friend who lives in North Carolina who has told us of a company that holds summer camps near her that teaches families how to surf!  They offer their surf camps as teen camps, women only camps, family adventure camps, adult camps, and kid’s summer camps.  They have day camps and overnight camps – it seems that they have it all!  They hold the surf lessons and camps in a wide variety of locations, in Florida, in North Carolina, in Hawaii, in the Caribbean, and in Costa Rica.  The ratio of students to teachers is 3:1, which sounds like a good thing – my kids and I could have our very own teacher to ourselves!  The family surf camp for days is a five day program, where the students are taught the fundamentals of surfing.  It sounds promising!
