Internet to the rescue

So, searching for something to keep my niece entertained, we turned to the Internet.  We found an Internet website called playgame.org that looked promising.  It is a website that offers a lot of free games that can be played on the Internet.  It looked like it had a lot of different types of games.  She actually spent quite a bit of time on it, playing the different games.  I’ve bookmarked it on my computer so she can access it again easily the next time she comes over and needs to kill some time.

My niece came over for a visit today

Locally the kids have spring break from school this week, so my sister brought my niece over to our house to have a visit and play games with my son.  However, my son had a doctor’s appointment that took him away from the house for a couple of hours, so I had to find a way to keep my niece entertained for a while.  I brought out books, puzzles, games, didn’t have a whole lot of luck.

Diets

As I mentioned previously, when I was younger I did not worry about losing weight.  In fact, my doctors were worried that I was underweight!

As I’ve gotten older, my metabolism has slowed down, and I had some major life changes.  I got married, had kids, and stopped going out dancing at the night clubs every weekend!  My family did not enjoy doing any of the physical activities that I enjoyed, so my exercise program went all to pieces.  Eventually health issues involved me taking medicines that slowed my metabolism down, and I was too busy working 50 hours a week to support my family and taking night classes at college and raising two sons single handedly to be able to “set aside” time for an exercise regime.

I tried hard to eat as healthy as I could, but IBS with diarrhea my doctors kept telling me to avoid the fruits and vegetables that healthy diets tell you to fill up on!  So, what’s a poor woman to do?

My sister told me about a website called http://www.weight-loss-diet-help.com/ that lists a large number of the popular diet plans.  It provides a quick and efficient method of looking at the different ones and comparing the different features.  They list diets such as the Nutrisystem diet, the Weight Watchers System, and the South Beach Diet, just to name a few. She even told me to check out Medifast if you don’t like shopping for groceries, counting calories or cooking meals which is another diet program that they talk about.

She has advised me to check them out and see if any of that information helps me.  So I guess that is exactly what I’ll be doing!

Everywhere I go I see people struggling with their weight

Even me, I used to be a “skinny minny” when I was younger.  In fact, when I was about 20 years old, my doctor told me that I was too skinny and needed to gain weight.  I asked him HOW to gain weight?  He told me to watch fat people eat, and eat what they were eating.

So, I watched the “fat people” eat.  What did I see?  Ice cream and twinkies!

So, I obediently started eating ice cream and Twinkies every day.  Well, it took about 20 years, but it eventually worked, I gained weight!  I guess I just had one of those fast metabolisms that burn off the calories really quickly.  But now that I’ve gotten older, my metabolism has slowed down, and the weight is settling in.
