Learning about credit and debt

My sweet niece Pamela is in her early twenties and she is just now starting to become aware of just how complicated “real life” can be.  For example, there are places that will only accept a check for payment of their product if you show a driver’s license and a credit card as identification.  She has learned that when she sees a sign at the store that says credit card required as a form of ID for checks that she is not going to be able to write a check for her purchase because she doesn’t have a credit card yet!  In today’s society, I’ve found that most stores actually prefer a credit card or cash instead of a check.

One of the best things I like about credit cards is that you don’t have to worry about “correct change,” but you DO need to double check the receipt to make sure you were charged the correct amount!  Another couple of reasons that I like credit cards is that it gives you extra time to pay for the purchase, and you can dispute a charge if you are unhappy with the purchase and the merchant does not give you satisfaction!

Here is a press release about credit:

Saving on gasoline purchases is a vital problem of our times. No doubt, pumping your car every day can burn a hole in your pocket. But what shall you do?
You can reduce your gas expenses obtaining a gasoline credit card. Gas cards are considered to be a type of rewards plastics. They give a certain percentage of rebates on gas and let earn rewards for buying gas on your card or for making other car maintenance related purchases.
There are many types of gasoline credit cards. Almost every bank provides plastics that let save on gas. Many gas companies issue their own gasoline cards, such as Shell credit card, Chevron, British Petroleum cards and other. So, before applying for a card you will have to study and compare many offers in order to choose the most suitable one.
Visit ApplyForBestCredit.com and you will learn more about gasoline credit cards, their types, and the way they work. You can also choose a card at the website and apply for it online. You have never applied for a card online? It is easy and secure. Click “Apply Online” and you will be redirected to safe online application, fill it out and it will be immediately sent to the bank.

I can remember the bad old days

I can remember the bad old days when I was young and had no credit cards yet.  I had to write a check or pay cash for everything!  What a pain that was!  I did not like to carry a lot of cash, and writing a check meant that the company that was taking my check would ask for two forms of ID, one had to be a driver’s license and they would verify my phone number by calling information and asking for my number!  What a pain that was!

Metals and health

Colloidal Silver is one of the many metals that have been used in the past for a variety of reasons; even as a resource to improve health.  Silver has been used for centuries to heal burns and prevent infection.  Silver is put in newborn babies’ eyes to prevent infection.  Bandages are made with infusions of silver.

There have been recent news stories that have sensationalized a man named Paul Karason who tried to make his own home made colloidal silver.  Unfortunately he made several mistakes in his process and he made ionic silver instead.  He ingested this home made concoction which gave him a condition called argyria, which turns the skin a blue-gray color.  The news media has erroneously reported that he made colloidal silver.

I did find it interesting that Paul Karason has had a lot of difficulty socially since he developed this argyria condition and has had to move around trying to find acceptance.

There is a good website at http://www.purestcolloids.com that has a lot of information about colloids in general, what they are and how they are used.  The site has links to articles that talk about the histories of how different metals have been used in healthcare through the centuries.  You can also buy colloids products from them if you desire to do so.

Why?

Why do people ask you “how are you” when they really don’t want to know?  They aren’t being polite; if they were simply being polite they’d say something different like “it’s nice to see you.”

A few days ago a lady asked me ”how are you” and I told her that I was not feeling well at all.  Her reply was “that’s good.”  Obviously she wasn’t listening.

Then I went to a fast food restaurant the other day and the cashier asked me how I was and I said “fine, how are you?” and he said “terrible.”  My reply was “I’m so sorry to hear that!”  He was shocked at my reply; he laughed and said “no, I was just kidding, I’m fine.”  He was testing me to see if I was really listening.  I was!

I think that if people are not prepared to hear (and respond appropriately) how someone REALLY is then they should not ask “how are you”
