Well, at least someone answered the phone!

Well, again I’ve tried to call my sister, and it just seems that I’m not going to be getting through to her.  If I don’t get the answering machine, I leave a message with the hubby or kids for her to call me, and she still doesn’t call me back.  So, I’m discouraged.

But, I DID talk with one of her daughters, who told me that most of them are feeling quite a bit better now.  And then she started telling me that her group of friends is excited and getting ready to go to the spring prom.  They’ve been looking at prom dresses and Evening dresses on the Internet, trying to figure out what they want to wear.

They’ve been focusing their search on one particular website, elegantmart.com because they like the selection and the prices.  She said that they sell designer dresses at lower prices than traditional retail, and they really want something special to wear to prom!

Keeping in touch with family

Yesterday I tried to give my sister a call to check up on how she and her family are doing.  Last week they were all very ill, and I was worried about them all.

I’ve been trying just about every day to get through to her, but just keep getting her answering machine.  I leave messages for her to call me back, but she hasn’t done that yet.  I don’t know if she’s still sick, or just too busy to call back!

Jobs in Information Technology

TechRepublic, with the assistance of Global Knowledge have conducted and released a survey regarding the future of jobs in the Information Technology Field.  The two companies worked together to conduct the survey and compile the data for the report.

The survey covers professionals’ salary history, educational backgrounds and job satisfaction.  Information is also included regarding the progression of Information Technology in terms of projected changes in innovation, job growth, and pay.

The report includes specific information regarding different types of training and experience such as ITIL training.

It looks as if I should have gotten my degree in IT, not Business Management!

If you would like to read the survey for yourself, you can click here.

I’ve been looking for a new job

Ever since I “retired” in 1998, I’ve been looking for another job.  I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 2002, and thought that I would have no trouble at all landing another good job.

Boy was I wrong!  Everywhere I apply, I’m told that I’m “over qualified” for the job I am applying for.  I think what they really mean is that they think I’m too old.  I think that ageism is at work here, but there really seems to be nothing I can do about it.  I am frustrated to realize that all of my hard work, time, energy, and money that I devoted to getting my Bachelor’s degree was for nothing.
